For each AVSS electronic death certificate (CDC) under 1 year of age a possible matching AVSS electronic birth certificate (LCA) is evaluated according to 8 common variables:

1 1A Infant’s First Name

2 1B Infant’s Middle Name

3 1C Infant’s Last Name

4 4A Infant’s Date of Birth

7 15A* Infant’s Date of Death

33 6C Father's Last Name

35 9A Mother's First Name

37 9C Mother's Last Name

* Infant’s date of death is often missing on the AVSS birth certificate
